Turkey has Strong Representation at Automechanika Johannesburg

Turkey, which was Europe's largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles and the 17th largest automotive manufacturer in the world in 2013, will have a strong presence at Automechanika Johannesburg. Seventeen companies from Turkey will display their products and services at this automotive aftermarket trade fair which takes place from May 6-9 at Expo Centre.

Turkey is a major exporter of automotive products and supplies 196 countries in the world. It accounts for 14% of total exports from Turkey. The automotive sector has built up a foreign trade surplus of US$15-bilion between 2006 and 2014 so will be looking for more exports into Africa during this continent's premier automotive aftermarket trade fair.

Turkey has adopted European Union product and environmental standards as part of its candidacy to become a member of the EU. More than a million vehicles and a large number of components were manufactured in Turkey last year, with the vast majority being exported.

The companies exhibiting at Automechanika Johannesburg this year are offering a wide range of replacement parts, many of them targeting the truck and bus market.

The Turkish pavilion, which is located in Hall 6, enjoys the full support of the commercial staff at the Turkish Embassy.
